Lynda V. Browne-Kidd, President

Welcome to Iota Chapter’s page of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa Sorority, Inc. We are delighted that you took the time to visit. We are a professional organization of educators, dedicated to expounding the absolute highest of standards for students and educational staff. Though our chapter location is Atlantic City our education professionals work in a myriad of districts, such as Atlantic City, Pleasantville, Egg Harbor Township, and Camden, to name a few. Our organization boasts principals, teachers, directors, former college professionals, citizenship specialists, gourmet cooks, writers, technologists, singers, and fitness instructors. We are the full gamut of professionals. We also have some living legends in our chapter. Dr. Juanita High is a past Eastern Regional Director, past national officer and current Eastern Regional officer. She is also a founder of one of our proximal chapters, Delta Lambda of Egg Harbor Township, NJ. Then there's Miriam Martin. She was instrumental and an integral member of the commission in advancing the Amistad Legislation for the State of New Jersey, which mandates that African American History has to be taught in our New Jersey Schools. We also have Brenda Braithwaite, who was recently elected as the National Education Association Director (NEA). Iota Chapter is full of rock stars! Now we don’t just dedicate ourselves to the classroom proper. We have fun too. We have hosted the Debutante Cotillion for more than 59 years. The Debutante Cotillion has been the "P'iece de Re'sistance" of Atlantic City's iconic cultural community for decades. We made it so big that our more mature ladies wanted to partake in a cotillion, so we created one for them, “The Golden Cotillion”. That premiere was exceptionally well received. Because we are a women’s educational group, we naturally have a high school girls and boys group. The girls are called the Xinos, and Iota has had a high school girls group for more than 40 years. The boys' group is called the Kudos and we have worked with them for at least a score of years. Our youth groups are our most precious resources. We workshop with them on issues of scholastic excellence, financial management, etiquette, technology use, and technology protection. We wholly support the Black Lives Matter and are dedicated to ensuring that intentional and unintentional bias is kept out of our educational arenas to make sure that our most precious resource, our youth, are not continually, systemically, and egregiously harmed. We fully respect Our organization boasts principals, teachers, directors, former college professionals, citizenship specialists, gourmet cooks, writers, technologists, singers, and fitness instructors.
